Casino Hold'em Rules and Strategy: A 2023 Online Guide

Getting Started in Casino Hold'em: Basic Rules

Casino Hold'em has a similar structure to Texas Hold'em. After placing an Ante and, if desired, a Bonus wager, you and the Dealer are both dealt two Hole Cards.

The Flop is then laid out. At this point, you must decide if you want to fold or call. If you fold, the game is over. If you call a wager two times your original Ante is put on the table. The Turn and the River are dealt and the winning hand is determined. It's that simple.

Understanding Payouts and Special Rules

There are a couple of rules that set Casino Hold'em apart from other Hold'em poker varieties. These include:

Casino Holdem - Payouts And Special Rules
  • The Dealer qualifies on a pair of 4s or better
  • There are three different wagers in Casino Hold'em and your pay out is determined by which type of wager(s) you place.
    • Ante: Players must place an Ante in order to start the game. In order to win the Ante wager, a winning hand is formed by using at least one of your Hole Cards in combination with the Community Cards. The Ante Pay Table determines pay out.
    • Bonus: This optional wager can be placed after your Ante. Whether or not you win this wager is based on the Flop. You will be paid out according to the Bonus Pay Table.
    • Call: This is another optional bet. In order to win it, at least one of your Hole Cards must be used to create a winning hand. Call bets pay out even money.
  • The computer decides your winning hand.

Basic Strategy and Tips

You can see that having an optimal strategy for Casino Hold’em can become complex and include a huge amount of different variations and rules. If you don’t want to make this tedious effort, try these simple rules. We cannot guarantee you will always win, but they will be in your favor most of the time.

  • Always call with a pair or better, and an A high or K high.
  • Always call with a Flush or Straight Draw.
  • Always call with 2 over cards.
  • If you have a Q high or J high, call, unless the board contains cards of all the same suit and you do not.
  • Fold if the board is paired and you have no cards which match the board and no cards over a ten, unless you hold a Flush or Straight Draw. If you do not hold these hands, fold.

By following the above strategy advice, you can lower the original house edge of 2.16% to approximately 1.96-2%.

Strategy aside, here are some quick tips:

  • Casino Hold’em is not traditional poker. Regular strategies do not apply.
  • On average, you should play 4 out of 5 hands.
  • -7 offsuit is the worst hand you can get and play.
  • Pairs are considered weak.
  • Learn the traditional poker hands, and their values; especially the dominate ones.
  • Know the high paying side bets, and place them every now and then when you’re feeling lucky.
  • Always play smart.
