The Martingale System and derivatives of it are very popular, but incredibly dangerous. Read on to learn about this system and why it doesn’t work.

First of all, how the Martingale works. You place a bet, usually on a close to 50% chance, and see what happens. If you win, then you simply repeat the bet. If you lose, you double your stake. You continue this until you have won again, relying on what seems an unlikely chance that you will have a run of losses so long that you can no longer afford to play.
Now, the danger. While you are greatly increasing your stakes, the amount you can stand to win is not increasing by much at all. You are setting yourself up to at best make a profit of your original stake, hardly worth it for the massive amounts you may have to bet.
Also, there is no set limit to how many times the opposite result can come up – it could go on for your entire lifetime, but at least for long enough to increase the bet size beyond table limits and your bankroll. Every play is a separate probability, so while the long term expectation may be near 50%, this is over an infinite amount of time.
Trying to figure out ways to beat the house is no fun, but playing the games you enjoy can be very thrilling. We recommend using casino bonuses to get the best value, and just playing in whatever way you enjoy best.
