This is a relatively new poker variation that combines bonus pay tables with Texas Hold’em. It earned its name by offering bonus payouts on hands containing 10s. It’s excellent for beginners and experienced players alike. It simplifies Hold’em just enough to allow beginners to get in on the action while adding a twist that will appeal to those looking for a different approach to traditional Hold’em.
Unlike other Hold’em games, 10 High Hold’em is played only against the dealer. There are no other players sitting around the table. This was my favorite aspect of the game as I’m pretty new to poker. The fact that there were no other players in the game made me feel much more comfortable about learning and playing this game. Plus, if I screwed up there was no one there to witness how much of a novice I really am.
10 High Hold’em has three different wagers and subsequent Pay Tables. These three different Pay Tables give the game a little bit of challenge, which experienced players might appreciate. Plus, it gives players the chance to pick up more cash! Beginners who are worried about the challenge of keeping track of three Pay Tables should skip the bonus wagers and master the game first.
Fans of Texas Hold’em will love playing 10 High Hold’em as the structure of the game is exactly the same. The only major difference is the pace of the game. Once your bet is placed, the game plays out without any pauses. The dealer deals all of the cards and the computer determines the winning hand. That’s it! This faster pace lets you play more poker in a shorter amount of time and keeps the game nice and simple.
Poker players of all kinds will love 10 High Hold’em as it has strong roots in Texas Hold’em but incorporates a few new twists that make the game a little more accessible to less experienced players. Check out the Rules and Strategy for a better understanding of the game.
