Mulligan Poker

A fun variation on 5 card poker, play against the dealer for the best five-card hand.

› Mulligan Poker

You don’t need to be a poker expert to play Mulligan Poker. This is one of the best things about it. It does, however, have a few rules that you should know about.

It’s a solitary game in which you are playing against the Dealer. To start things off you put down your initial wager. Many casinos, such as Go Casino, offer a bonus bet on Mulligan Poker as well. It’s based on the first five cards only, and is placed after your initial bet. Once you’ve placed your bet(s) and hit the deal button, five cards are dealt to you and five cards to the dealer.

After considering your cards, if you feel that you’re not holding a winning hand, you can choose to take the mulligan. If this is your choice, you immediately lose the bonus bet. A raise bet equal to the initial bet is placed on the table and you’re given five new cards. Hopefully they will be better than the first batch.

The Dealer considers his/her cards. If the Dealer has Ace high or better, they will keep their hand. If the Dealer has King high or less, they will take a mulligan. At this point both hands are exposed and the winner is determined. It’s just that simple. Of course, there isn’t a lot of challenge to this game, so experienced players shouldn’t go into it thinking that it will be as competitive as other poker games. It does, however, offer a lot of fun. It’s an interesting little twist that offers a change of pace.
