After the come-out roll and a shooters point is established the game opens up and additional bets can be placed. Successful play is all in the betting, since each roll of the dice is primarily down to chance and althought it is clear from the table layout that all manner of bets can be made, some bets are more advantageous to players than others.
The reason for this is that each roll of the dice pays out at different odds, depending on the likelihood of any given number being thrown.
The Free Odds bet is the only bet you can make on a table game where the odds aren't against you, this is a betting position that is not marked on the betting layout but is considered one of teh most favorable bets for the "do" betters.
This is another bet available to the do betters and works in a similar way to the pass-line bet. It's betting the do's and backing the right bettors. You can only place the come bet, however, after a point has been established.
While the majority of players will bet with the dos - that is, with the shooter - a number of players like to bet with the don'ts. Don't betters place their initial bets on the don't-pass line and don't-come bets in the don't-come box. Once the point has been established the bet is moved to a space above the relevent place-bets box.
Don't come bets are made after the point has been established, the fules for this bet are the same as the don't pass line bet.
These are made in exactly the same way as come-line bets, but in reverse: a new don't-come bet wins automatically if the shooter throws a 2 or 3 and draws on a 12; the bet loses automatically if the shooter throws a 7 or 11.
Place bets can be made at any point in the game, although they are suspended on the come-out roll. Place bets are a straight bet on any of the numbers 4, 5, 6 , 8, 9 or 10 being rolled before a 7.
However there is a penalty for using a place bet, in the way of a lower payout.
