There is a situation in which going to war can be more advantageous than surrendering, however – when a bonus payout is offered on getting a tie after going to war. Bonus payouts are normally equal to the original bet, added to the regular win for tying when going to war. While the house edge still exists in this situation, going to war becomes a better option than surrendering in such circumstances.
